Thus, it is wrong to utter an expression like that:

I used a long leg to get the job.

rather say,

I used a long arm to get the job. 

I am hearing you/ I can hear you - on phone

It is wrong to say "I am hearing you" while on phone. 

Say, "I can hear you".
